THE SUSTAINABLE AFRICA INITIATIVE

The Sustainable Africa Initiative is a Climate Risk Research Foundation (CRRF) initiative delivered across all 54 African nations in cooperation with The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), Amazon AWS, Sustainable Solutions for Green Growth, Generation Humanity, and a multitude of corporations, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and countless others wanting to have a positive impact on Africa.

CRRF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on collaborating on climate-related risk research. The Foundation works to establish grants and act as the conduit for sharing climate and socioeconomic data, machine learning models and analytics tools used to identify and quantify climate-related risks and mitigation strategies. CRRF is leading change by taking on the role as project manager, program coordinator, and the sponsor on Initiatives like the Sustainable Africa Initiative and Projects like the Climate Risk Research Challenge – Nigeria 2023.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation is one of the largest philanthropic organizations in Africa. Providing over $150 million in grants and connecting and providing mentorship and resources to over 1.5 million African Entrepreneurs since 2015.

The collaboration between TEF and CRRF is a result of a long-term friendship between Harvard Business School classmates Mr. Brendan Reilly CRRF Chairman and Mr. Tony Elumelu. By collaborating together on this Initiative they hope to mitigate the impacts of climate change on Africa and help build a more sustainable world.

OUR MISSION

The core objective of the Sustainable Africa Initiative is to equip the Africa agriculture sector with data, tools, and knowledge essential for developing and executing sci-ence-based strategies to mitigate and adapt to climate risks. These strategies aim to bolster crop resilience, elevate agricultural output, and notably diminish the count of individuals in Africa afflicted by persistent hunger, malnutrition, and starvation
